About J C Sum


Since 2004, J C has been working with production houses, television stations and channels to create innovative magic/ illusion content.   

Most recently, J C & Ning designed and taped 5 illusion segments that were created specifically for them for a MediaCorp Studios Channel 8 variety show.

In 2007, J C starred in 'Magic in Motion', a 24-episode Street Magic & Illusion series produced for Singapore Press Holdings MediaBoxOffice (SPHMBO).

In 2006, J C also starred in 'Street Illusions', a 15-episode anchor segment created specifically for him by MediaCorp Studios, Singapore. His compilation video DVD of this series is also available for licensing for distribution in overseas markets.


J C is also available as a consultant & producer for TV & broadcast media magic-centric content.

He has produced over 200 minutes of  content for television, DVD and outdoor media. His experience includes pre-production planning, production and post-production.


'Asia Uncut' - Star World, Asia (2009)

J C Sum & 'Magic Babe' Ning are the first magicians ever to appear on Asia Uncut. Previous guests have included movie stars, musicians and celebrities such as Brendan Fraser, Ethan Hawke, Maggie Q, James Blunt, JJ Lin, Brian McKnight and Motley Crue.

Asia Uncut airs on Asia’s largest regional network Star World that reaches over 200 million viewers.  The talk show is the first one-shot mainstream avenue to reach the majority of English speaking people in Asia on an entertainment network.

翱翔万里伍星夜 - 'Five Stars Carnival' Channel 8, MediaCorp Studios, Singapore (2009)

J C Sum & Ning starred in an illusion segment specifically created for them in a new weekly variety show on MediaCorp's Channel 8.

The primetime variety show will featured the duo performing original illusions never before seem on local TV for 5 epsiodes!

Concept:Magic (J C's magic production company) has produced 24 episodes of Street Magic & Illusion content. The original content presented by J C aired on Singapore Press Holdings' MediaBoxOffice (SPHMBO) Motion Media Network located all over the country throughout 2007.

The electronic outdoor media network includes giant LED screens in the Central Business District, Heartland Centres as well as plasma TVs in major shopping malls.

'J C Sum: Street Illusions' VCD (Singapore/ Malaysia Edition) (2006)

Concept:Magic, in partnership with MediaCorp Studios produced a compilation VCD of all 15 episodes of J C's 'Top Fun' 'Street Illusions' segment. It will include additional magic content not shown on television.

The TS Group has sole distribution rights for Singapore & Malaysia and the VCD.    


'J C Sum: Street Illusions' DVD (International Edition) (2006)

Concept:Magic and MediaCorp Studios Singapore are currently licensing the 'J C Sum: Street Illusions' DVD (International Edition) to video distributors outside of Singapore and Malaysia. 

The DVD version includes an English Audio Commentary by J C not available in the VCD version of the video.

Street Illusions - 'Top Fun' Channel 8, MediaCorp Studios, Singapore (2006)

J C worked with MediaCorp Studios Singapore and J-Team to develop 15-episode segments of 'Street Illusions' for the 'Top Fun' variety show on Channel 8. The dedicated anchor segment was created specifically for J C and showcases his unique style and illusions to the mass audience.

J C's work includes designing the 'Street Illusions' in the show, scouting of locations, working with the writers of the show and providing magic direction for camera and post production.

The project is the first time in Singapore television history where program content has been created around a homegrown illusionist.


MTV Asia, Pop Inc South East Asia (2006)

J C taped an appearance for MTV Asia's Pop Inc show that will broadcast via cable throughout the region. He performed his brand of Street Magic for MTV VJ's May and Choy. He also performed a mass audience interactive piece for the viewers at home.


Channel Young, Shanghai Oriental Television, China (2006)

J C worked with Channel Young, Shanghai Oriental Television, China and presenting sponsor Suntory Ice Tea to develop 3-episode segments of 'Street Magic' content for a popular Chinese variety program.

The 3 episodes featured J C performing branded Street Magic showcasing the new Suntory Ice Tea drink in multiple locations across Shanghai.

The TV show was part of an integrated marketing campaign that include TV ads, road shows and other marketing tools.

J C'S work included designing the 'Street Magic' in the show, scouting of locations and providing magic direction for camera and post production.  


Franz Harary's Magic Planet (Global Syndication)

J C is a featured performer in one of the 13 episodes of Franz Harary 'Magic Planet' program. This is a unique show that focuses on Franz traveling the globe and meeting magicians from around the world.


'Gotcha!' Channel 5, MediaCorp Studios, Singapore (2005)

J C developed a series of magic-based gags for 5 episodes of a Candid Camera-style TV show. The sophisticated magic-based gags involved intricate set-ups and ploys to create unusual situations for 'victims'.

J C's work included designing and executing the magic gags providing the on-screen magic talent.


'President's Star Charity Show' - Channel 5, MediaCorp Studios, Singapore (2004)

J C was part of a star-studded celebrity line-up for a charity show that raised S$2.83 mil for the beneficiaries. 

As a featured highlight in the show, J C presented an original act that featured multiple illusions and a close-up illusion for the President of Singapore. Acts includes a magical appearance from a thin wall, performing a 'striptease'-vanish illusion with radio personality, Jamie Yeo, levitating himself into the air, performing a personalized card effect for the President of Singapore and making a car magically appear!
